Papa is in Heaven with Jesus

Last Saturday Papa (Donald Dagert) went home to see Jesus. He had been on dialysis for a few months and when his body no longer accepted the treatment, it was just too much. He knew he was going and was ready. He had bravely hung on for his bride and now has gone ahead to scout the route and patiently wait for us to join him.
The stories that have been told of his life have been ones of encouragement. Many of them involve details of how he brought friends to know Christ, was a good golf buddy, a recreational cook, a mission trip participant for Habitat for Humanity and a world traveller. Mostly, the stories are about how he loved his wife of 66 years and took care of her until his last days.
Looking through pictures of their lives it is rare to find a picture of Nana and Papa individually. They were always together, usually touching each other or snuggled up close. Each picture sweeter than the last showcasing a couple that experienced life together. Whether enjoying a cruise together, serving in ministry, celebrating or visiting family their love for each other was obvious, their devotion unshakable. These pictures visually illustrate a true love story.


Wedding Photo Papa will be greatly missed by his wife, his family and friends. God let us borrow him for 88 years and although one more day would never seem like enough, we are blessed to know that we will see him again someday when we have our reunion in heaven.
